MEADVILLE, Pa. – The fifth-seeded Washington & Jefferson College men's tennis team (6-12) suffered a 4-0 defeat to top-seeded Allegheny College (16-7) in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals Thursday afternoon in Crawford County.
Less than a week after beating W&J by a 7-0 score in the regular season finale, Allegheny picked up the semifinals victory to advance to the PAC finals for a fourth-straight season.
Allegheny earned the doubles point with wins at the first and second spots. The third doubles spot went unfinished with the tandem of
Jackson Akers (Logan, W. Va./Logan) and
Colby Peters (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) earning a pair of points in their match.
The host Gators claimed singles wins at number one, number four and number five to secure the victory.
The Presidents were appearing in the semifinals for the first time since the 2019 season. W&J registered a dramatic 4-3 win over fourth-seeded Saint Vincent in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
