PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's lacrosse team (10-6) was unsuccessful in continuing their 2026 campaign in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Semifinals, seeing the Chatham Cougars (13-3) win by a 13-12 score.
Mya Bolinda (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) led the team in scoring with four goals.
Ella Holland (Healdsburg, Calif./Cardinal Newman) posted a complete game with three goals, five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Caleigh Bogats (Oakdale, Pa./Chartiers Valley) scored two goals and had three assists to lead the team in points with five. Bogats also led the team with seven draw controls.
Bogats and
Josie Ungaro (Oreland, Pa./Upper Dublin) each additionally had three caused turnovers.
Sarah Brown (Denton, Md./North Caroline) also claimed four ground balls on the Presidents' backline.
Chatham left the first quarter with a 4-3 edge after scoring the first two goals of the semifinals. W&J responded with three goals of their own off the stick of Bolinda to take a 3-2 lead before surrounding two more Cougar goals.
The Presidents flipped the script on the Cougars in the second quarter, seeing W&J outscore their opposition 3-2.
Bekah Meiklejohn (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) got the scoring moving for the Presidents in the second quarter with an unassisted goal at the 11:59 mark. Holland scored shortly after off an assist from
Brynne Stewart (Painesville, Ohio/Andrews Osborne Academy) to retake the lead. Bogats fired a solo goal with just over four minutes remaining to advance the Red & Black lead to 6-4. Chatham equalized to take the 6-6 stalemate into the half.
Despite Chatham scoring the first goal of the second half, W&J mustered its best period of the night outscoring their opposition by two scores.
Avery Byard (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown), Holland and Bolinda all scored to continue the streak of scoring in trios. After allowing a man-up goal from the Cougars, W&J added another goal off the stick of
Anna Kloehn (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) to take a 10-8 into the final quarter.
Chatham scored four consecutive goals to start the fourth quarter and take a 12-10 lead with five minutes remaining. W&J responded and equalized with rapid goals from Bogats and Holland. For the second consecutive year, Chatham scored a game-winning goal with under two seconds left in regulation to take the 13-12 win.
W&J concludes the 2026 campaign with a 10-6 overall record and an 7-2 record in conference play. The senior class wraps their tenures as Presidents with an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2023 after winning a PAC Championship that same year.
