BETHANY, W. Va. – The Washington & Jefferson College cross country teams each finished third at the Bethany College Invitational to open the season. Each unit placed third out of nine competing teams.
Dominic Flitcraft (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) led the way for the Presidents, winning his first race of the season. The senior runner paced his way to a 27:12.9 time en route to his opening race victory.
Jacob Derry (Canonsburg, Pa./Corry Area) came in 13
th place for the Presidents with a time of 30:33.1.
Antony Flitcraft (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) and
Wyatt Stroup (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) each finished close behind in 15
th and 17
th place, respectively. A. Flitcraft finished with a time of 30:40.1 while Stroup paced his way to a time of 31:23.5.
Jase Engle (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) led the way for the W&J women, finishing in sixth place. The freshman paced her way to a time of 24:43.9 to finish in the top 10. Sophomore
Emily Frankovich (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) accompanied the newcomer in the top ranks, finishing ninth with a time of 25:05.1.
Seniors
Genevieve Ruth (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville Broadview Heights) and
Cali LaRue (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) rounded out the Presidents' top four. Ruth finished in 13
th place with a time of 25:26.2 while LaRue finished 19
th with a mark of 25:57.2.
W&J returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 26) for a trip to the Lock Haven Invitational.
