Box Score LATROBE, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team (3-1, 1-1) picked up a 7-0 sweep over the Saint Vincent Bearcats (0-6, 0-3) to earn their first Presidents' Athletic Conference victory of the season.
 
W&J opened play with a sweep in partnered play to win the doubles team point, 1-0. Senior captain Claire Loomis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and sophomore Keiran Moorhead (Canonsburg, Pa./Peters Township) won at No. 1 doubles, 6-0. Maya Hamade (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and Keira Ross (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) won at No. 2 doubles by a 6-3 score. Partners Mackenzie Gumto (Renfrew, Pa./Knoch) and Austyn Paugh (Jane Lew, W.Va./Notre Dame) completed the sweep at the No. 3 doubles slot with a 6-0 victory.
 
W&J took their momentum from partnered play into singles, winning all six individual matches. Moorhead kicked off play with a No. 1 singles sweep, 6-0, 6-0. Loomis won her No. 2 singles match by a score of 6-3, 6-2. Hamade and Ross each won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and No. 5 singles. Bella Graham (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) won at No. 4 singles with a set one score of 6-0. Paugh completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
 
The Presidents manage a rapid turnaround with a match against the Balwin Wallace Yellow Jackets on Saturday (Sept. 26). The match is scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. start.
