BEREA, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team (4-1) remains unbeaten in nonconference duals with a 6-1 victory over the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets (2-1).
 
W&J swept doubles play to gain an early 1-0 lead. Senior captain Claire Loomis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and sophomore Keiran Moorhead (Canonsburg, Pa./Peters Township) battled to a 6-3 set at No. 1 doubles. Additionally, junior captain Mackenzie Gumto (Renfrew, Pa./Knoch) and sophomore Maya Hamade (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) secured a straightforward 6-1 win at the No. 2 position. Freshman Keira Ross (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and sophomore Addison Jacobs (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) secured the sweep with a 6-2 victory at No. 3.
 
The Presidents took that momentum into singles play. Loomis won a competitive 6-3, 6-3 match at No. 2. Hamade took the opening set at No. 3 6-1 and then battled to a straight sets victory with a 7-5 closing frame. Ross continued her strong rookie campaign with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 4 position. Gumto secured a win in her first singles appearance since the 2024 campaign by a 6-3, 6-2 scoreline. Rounding out the points, Jacobs earned her first collegiate dual match singles win with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 6.
 
The Presidents return to the Janet Swanson Tennis Center for the first of three matches at home against the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets. Doubles matches will begin at 5:00 p.m.
