THE SERIES: The Washington & Jefferson Presidents play host to the Geneva Golden Tornadoes for the 72nd matchup between the schools on the gridiron. The Presidents hold a 50-19-2 advantage and have won 20 straight meetings with the Golden Tornadoes, dating back to a win over Geneva in the 1984 season. W&J has won each of the 18 matchups since Mike Sirianni became head coach in 2003. The last Geneva win over W&J came in the 1983 campaign. The Golden Tornadoes have not won in Washington since the 1973 season.

RICH TRADITION: The Washington & Jefferson football program has won 800 games in its 132-year history (800–409–40), ranking third among NCAA Division III schools behind Mount Union (880) and Wittenberg (809). Wabash (737) and Widener (737) round out the D-III top five. Across all NCAA divisions, the Presidents' win total places them 22nd all-time. The program's 28 PAC titles stand as the most in league history and its 28 NCAA Playoff appearances are the third-most among Division III schools. W&J football also holds a streak of 42 consecutive winning seasons, the third-longest active streak of its kind trailing only Linfield (69) and Mount Union (47).

800 CLUB: With last week's win at Case Western Reserve, W&J picked up the 800th win in program history. The Presidents became the 22nd NCAA program, and third Division III program, to reach the milestone.

HOME SWEET HOME: The Presidents have won 62 of their last 68 games at home, boasting a .912 winning percentage. W&J has gone undefeated at home in seven of the last 13 seasons, including most recently in 2023.

STARTING OUT SHARP: Junior Andrew Sharp (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) has had one of the best starts to the season in recent memory for a W&J running back. After rushing for 245 yards over the first two games, including 153 against a very strong Utica defense, Sharp had his best collegiate game, posting 186 yards and four touchdowns on just 15 carries against Case Western Reserve. The junior earned PAC Offensive Player of the Week and was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his efforts.

HALFWAY HOME: W&J has thrived under Mike Sirianni when leading at halftime, posting a 162–6 record (.964) in such games.

W&J VS. THE PAC: The Presidents have won 15 consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference games by an average margin of 34 points. The Red & Black maintains a winning record against every current PAC program.

RED OCTOBER: W&J has enjoyed consistent success in the month of October under Mike Sirianni, going 75-16 (.824) in October since 2003. The Presidents have won nine straight games played in October.

DERUBBO'S DOMAIN: Junior defensive back Dante DeRubbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) has etched his name among the nation's best ballhawks. DeRubbo has nine career interceptions, all coming in his last 12 games played. The junior had a key red-zone interception last week against Case Western Reserve, ending a Spartan possession while W&J led 7-0.

PRESIDENTIAL PRESSURE: The W&J pass rush had an excellent showing against Case Western Reserve, stacking up 14 total tackles for loss. Antoine Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) led the way with three TFLs, while Brock Sherman (Copley, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit), Nathaniel Kadosh-Harris (Irwin, Pa./Norwin), Owen Sinclair (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional), Alex Boyce (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) and Nico Mauro (Washington, Pa./Trinity) each had multiple TFLs. Alex Boyce (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) had a key sack-fumble, which was recovered by Kadosh-Harris to set up W&J's first touchdown from the Case four-yard line. The Presidents had seven team sacks, the first time they have done so since W&J racked up seven against Bethany on October 26, 2024. Alex Boyce (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) earned a spot on D3football.com Team of the Week for his efforts against CWRU.

THE NEW KID IN TOWN: Freshman quarterback Braylon Wagner (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) has burst onto the scene for the Presidents, showing off his game-breaking rushing ability. Wagner has been eased in, going from just two plays against Utica and coming in as the backup against Keystone, to playing nearly half of W&J's snaps against CWRU. It was against the Spartans that the freshman had a breakout effort, rushing for 120 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown run.

GROUND AND POUND: The Presidents rushed for 341 yards against CWRU last week, due in part to a brilliant offensive line performance. It was the first time the team surpassed the 300-yard rushing threshold since Nov. 12, 2022, when it rushed for 328 yards against Waynesburg. The Presidents also found the end zone five times on the ground, extending the program's streak to 29 consecutive games with a rushing touchdown.

SCOUTING GENEVA: After decades of a run-heavy, triple-option offense, Geneva switched to a pass-heavy spread offense last season. Since the start of 2025, Geneva senior quarterback Caleb Romano has thrown for 4,416 yards and 39 touchdowns but has thrown 23 interceptions across the 14 games in that time. Romano has the eighth-most career passing yards among active Division III passers. Geneva has thrown the ball on 57.2% of offensive plays since the start of last season.

Defensively, Geneva has focused on stopping the run, allowing just 2.7 yards per carry and 85.7 per game. The pass defense has allowed 240.7 yards per game.

Turnovers have been an issue for the Golden Tornadoes, as Geneva is -11 (14 turnovers to three takeaways) in turnover margin on the season.

CAN'T BLOCK BROCK: W&J junior linebacker Brock Sherman (Copley, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) put together an excellent performance against CWRU in week 4, setting a new career high with 2.5 tackles for loss. He also recorded 1.5 sacks, which tied his top single-game mark.
