  • W&J ranks third all-time in Division III history with 790 wins in 132 seasons of football
  • The Presidents collected their 750th win in program history on Nov. 9, 2019 (W&J 42, Saint Vincent 10)
  • The Red and Black earned the 700th victory in team history on Sept. 20, 2014 (W&J 48, Carnegie Mellon 30)
  • The school's winning percentage of .656 (790-405-40) is the 11th-best overall percentage in NCAA Division III history
  • Participated in the NCAA Division III playoffs 27 times in the past 38 seasons. The 27 NCAA playoff appearances are the third-highest total nationally. W&J has compiled a 23-27 all-time record in the Division III Playoffs. No playoffs were held in 2020 due to COVID-19. 
  • Won 23 NCAA Division III playoff games, which is the ninth-highest total in tournament history
  • Played in two NCAA Division III National Championship games (1992, 1994) - The Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl
  • Won the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship in 26 of the past 41 seasons (27 total PAC titles in history)
  • Produced more than 60 All-Americans and 35 Academic All-Americans during the past four decades
  • Since 2003, 74 Presidents have earned CoSIDA/CSC Academic All-District honors. Eight of those student-athletes, Matt Houy '08, Mitch Erdely '09, Ryan Doyle '16, Jesse Zubik '18, Conor Manning '20, Sean Doran '21 and Alex Keith '22, Dawson Dietz '25, Zach Cernuto '25 were also selected as Academic All-Americans.
  • Overall record since 1984 = 357-82-1 (.811); 41 consecutive winning seasons (Third-longest active streak among all NCAA divisions; only Linfield and Mount Union own longer streaks)
  • From 2000-2009, the Presidents posted a 99-18 record, marking the decade's fourth-highest win total in NCAA Division III
  • W&J had three undefeated regular seasons in the 2000s (2001, 2004, 2007) and nine overall. Their last undefeated regular season came in 2017 when the Presidents finished 11-1 overall. 
  • Washington & Jefferson collected the eighth-highest win total during the 1990s, claiming an 89-21 overall record
  • Played the University of California to the only scoreless tie in Rose Bowl history in 1922
  • W&J is proud of its alumni currently playing major roles in the National Football League. Commissioner Roger Goodell is a 1981 W&J graduate.
  • Became the first team in college football history to wear numbers on uniforms on Sept. 19, 1908, versus Denison University
  • Surpassed 500 points in a season (1991, 2004, 2007, 2008) four times in program history
  • Produced 10 or more victories in 18 different seasons, including 2014 & 2017 in which the Presidents advanced to the NCAA second round
