The Swanson Wellness Center, which debuted during the 2002-2003 academic year, provides a great atmosphere for the W&J community to exercise. The facility is host to a variety of cardiovascular and weightlifting equipment. The facility has 10 treadmills, five exercise bikes, and five elliptical running machines, all with their own television set attached. Simply bring in a pair of stereo headphones, plug them in, and you are able to access up to 65 channels of cable television.
The weight room consists of numerous free weight machines including five squat racks if needed. It also has a weight rack which holds dumbbells from five to 100 pounds. Also located in the wellness center are various resistance machines developed by Strive. These machines will allow you to control where the most force is applied during an exercise. This can be adjusted by simply moving a lever that will allow you to place the emphasis of the workload in the beginning, middle, or at the end range of the movement.
Above the exercise area, there is a three-lane indoor track that is used by many for walking or jogging.
