Sam Bashioum joined the W&J baseball staff in February 2022. Bashioum serves as the team's pitching coach.
Under his tutelage, Tyler Horvat earned PAC Pitcher of the Year and All-America honors in 2023. Eight W&J pitchers have secured All-PAC honors in his three years working with the staff.
Before coming to W&J, Bashioum previously served as Associated Head Baseball Coach at the University of South Carolina Lancaster (NCJAA D1). The program compiled a 30-16 overall record and a 19-4 mark in conference play in 2021. He was in charge of multiple aspect of the program such as arm care, player development, video, fundraising, field maintenance. On field duties included pitch calling, defensive positioning, pick and bunt calls. He served as Associate Baseball Coach at Division II Coker University from 2017-19.
No stranger to Presidents' Athletic Conference baseball, he was an assistant baseball coach and pitching coach for the Thiel Tomcats from 2015-17. The Tomcats earned a pair of PAC Tournament berths during his stint in Greenville. He coached three all-region players and one All-American. Bashioum got his start in collegiate coaching as a graduate assistant with the Bethany Bison, where he spent time as a staff member from 2013-15.
Bashioum played collegiately at Division I UMBC before transferring to Division II Seton Hill University. During his time with the Griffins, they reached the NCAA Division II Regionals during twice, including Bashioum's senior year in 2013.
He earned a communications degree from Seton Hill before adding a masters of arts in education from Bethany. Bashioum is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
