Maggie Fees enters her second season as the leader of the W&J field hockey program. She served as interim head coach during the 2022 season before being elevated to head coach in January 2023. This marks Fees' third season with the program overall.
Fees helped W&J qualify for the Empire 8 Conference Tournament in 2022. The Presidents finished with a 5-4 record in E8 play. The highlight of the season was a 2-1 win over perennial E8 power St. John Fisher on Oct. 8. Fees coached three student-athletes to All-E8 honors. Lily Giering earned Empire 8 Rookie of the Year honors.
As an Intern Assistant Coach, Fees helped the Red and Black compile a 5-8 overall record in 2021. Four student-athletes were named All-Empire 8 following the season.
Fees participated in the 2022 NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar (ELS), which is a three-day professional development event provides leadership, educational and transitional programming for current graduate assistants and interns from NCAA member schools, conference offices and affiliate organizations. The three-day virtual program educates, develops and connects selected participants and equips attending young professionals with the skills necessary to accelerate their career progression in college sports.
Fees played four years of collegiate field hockey, splitting her time at Division II West Chester University before competing for Division III Elizabethtown College during her final two seasons.
During her time with West Chester, the Rams advanced to the NCAA Division II Final Four in 2015. She was also named to the NFHCA All-Academic Team. After transferring to Elizabethtown, she played a key role for the Blue Jays in 2017 and 2018. She started all 34 games and anchored the defensive unit during her time with the Blue Jays.
Fees earned All-Landmark Conference First Team honors as a senior. She was twice named Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week in 2018. She led the team in points (17), assists (5) and shots (68). She ranked second on the team with six goals and anchored the league's top defensive unit. Additionally, she was named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Team.
She earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Entrepreneurship and Family Business from Elizabethtown in 2019. She was a Presidential Scholar and involved with the Entrepreneurship Club at E-Town.
A native of Orrtanna, Pa., she attended Gettysburg High School. As a senior, was GameTimePA First Team All Star and Gettysburg Times Player of the Year.
