Mike Schuff was hired as the Special Teams Coordinator in January 2019.
During the 2019 season, Schuff oversaw the development of sophomore Joey Koroly. A First Team All-South Region selection by D3football.com and an All-ECAC First Teamer, Koroly registered three returns for touchdowns in 2019, two of which were kickoffs (98 vs. Thiel, 85 vs. Waynesburg) and one punt for a score (54 vs. Bethany). His 98-yard kick return for touchdown against the Tomcats in week two established a new school record for longest kick return. Koroly led the PAC and ranked ninth in Division III in kick return average (28.7).
Schuff spent the 2018 season in his second stint as an assistant football coach at Mount Union.
In 2017, Schuff worked as the pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach at PAC member Thiel. Prior to that, he served as the offensive quality control assistant at NCAA Division I Akron in 2016.
Schuff also brings experience as an assistant coach from Division II Augustana University.
From 2013-16, Schuff was an assistant coach at Mount Union. Schuff served as the running backs and tight ends coach and was part of the Purple Raiders program that made appearances in the nation championship game each year, including the 2015 NCAA championship.
Schuff began his coaching career as a UMU student assistant in 2010 after his playing career ended due to injury, helping the Purple Raiders win the 2012 national championship.
Schuff earned a bachelor’s degree in sports business from Mount Union in 2013. He is a native of Wexford, Pa., and a graduate of Pine-Richland High School.
