John Lichina enters his first season as the Intern Assistant Coach for the Washington & Jefferson men's soccer program in 2017.
Prior to coming to W&J, Lichina spent the last two years as an assistant coach at Hampton High School in Pittsburgh in addition to serving as a goalkeeper and team coach with SCS United, a youth soccer organization based in Pittsburgh.
Lichina is a contributor for RantSports Inc. as a Sports Blogger where he discusses assigned teams events. In addition, Lichina was a contributor for the Allegheny College Newspaper, The Campus, during his time there as a student.
A four-year letter winner on the men's soccer team, Lichina graduated from Allegheny College in May, 2014, with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in English with a concentration in journalism while minoring in history.
On the field, Lichina was a two-year captain and was named an All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection four times. A two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Lichina holds the Allegheny program record for most shutouts in a career (21) and is currently second on the all-time list for career saves (404). Following his freshman campaign, Lichina was named the 2011 Allegheny Athletic Department Newcomer of the Year. Lichina also spent some time after graduation as the goalkeeper for the Fort Pitt Regiment of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).
The Gibsonia, Pa., native and Hampton High School graduate also served two years on the Allegheny Student-Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), including his first year as the Treasurer, in addition serving two years as a Student Senator on the Allegheny College Student Government.
