Nikki Nuzum

Nikki  Nuzum returns for her second season as the intern assistant coach of the W&J softball team in the 2020.

Nuzum will continue to work with the W&J pitching staff. During the 2019 season, she helped Kristen Fuertes as the junior put together a career season. Fuertes posted a career best 11 wins. Fuertes also posted collegiate highs in innings (120.2), complete games (13), appearances (22) and earned run average (3.60).

Nuzum has gained experience as a coach at multiple levels, most recently serving as an assistant softball coach at Penn State Fayette in Fayette County, Pa., during the 2018 campaign. While coaching the Roaring Lions, she developed practice schedules, contributed in-game insight and handled the supervision of off-season workouts. Nuzum’s knowledge was used for all aspects of the game, as she served as both a pitching coach and a hitting instructor.

Before taking her knowledge to the collegiate ranks, Nuzum served as the head coach at Clay-Battelle High School in Blacksville, W.V., in 2017. In her time with the Cee Bees, she created practice plans and was charged with making all executive coaching decisions. Under Nuzum’s guidance, two Clay-Battelle players were selected to the West Virginia Class A All-State Team.

Other coaching stops on Nuzum’s resume include four seasons as a coach and manager of various Mon County Girls Softball travel teams. She also served as an assistant coach at the 12U All-American Games in 2017 and 2018. Nuzum also spent four years at Pro Performance RX in Morgantown, W.V., where she provided individual hitting, pitching, and fielding instruction.

Nuzum, a native of Fairmont, W.V., graduated from Fairmont State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science in 2014. She earned a Masters of Education degree in Exercise Science from Fairmont State in May of 2016.
