Following an outstanding collegiate career as a multi-sport athlete at W&J, Rachel Johnson joins the softball coaching staff as its Intern Assistant Coach for the 2020 season.

Despite playing just two seasons with the Red and Black, Johnson compiled one of the finest careers in school history. Johnson shattered the school record for career batting average, as she registered a .482 mark at the plate. She also ranked among the top five in program history in career doubles and career stolen bases. Her two single-season hit totals rank among the top four in program history.

During her senior season in 2019, she led the PAC in batting average (.472) and on-base percentage (.552). Johnson finished among the top 35 in all of Division III in both categories. She also finished among the best in the conference in the following: hits (58), slugging percentage (.642), runs scored (36), total bases (79).

Johnson was a two-time Academic All-American selection by CoSIDA, as well as a two-time Division III All-American choice by Fastpitch News. She was a two-time All-PAC First Team selection and was honored as ECAC Rookie of the Year as a junior.

As a tennis player, Johnson was a three-time All-PAC First Team pick, which included taking home the PAC title at third singles as a freshman.

A NCAA postgraduate scholarship nominee, she was W&J's female representative at the PAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Banquet as a senior.

A native of Orchard Park, N.Y., Johnson graduated summa cum laude with a bachelors degree in psychology - pre-physical therapy track in May of 2019.Â
