Brooke Turner (Wheeling Jesuit '04; Fifth Year) enters her fifth season as head coach of the Washington & Jefferson volleyball team in the fall of 2016.
The 2015 Presidents clinched an appearance in the Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament for a consecutive season, posting a 9-9 mark in league games and 14-12 overall record. Nicole Bishwaty and Alison Means were both recognized as First Team All-PAC honorees, while freshman Abigail Eich received an Honorable Mention nod. W&J was one of just three league schools to place at least a pair on the First Team. It was the fourth All-PAC honor for Bishwaty, who also claimed Academic All-District laurels from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), making her one of just 17 student-athletes from the rally-scoring era to claim four All-PAC honors in their careers. She became the first President since 2001-04 to earn four All-PAC awards. Bishwaty closed her career in the top five on the W&J career list for kills (fifth - 862) and service aces (tied for second - 126).
In 2014, W&J earned a berth in the PAC tournament for the first time since 2010 after finishing with 14 total wins and eight in the conference. Lindsey Bennett became the first President named First Team All-PAC since 2009, headlining four all-league selections. Taylor Freeman collected Second Team honors and Bishwaty and Means each claimed Honorable Mention laurels.
The Presidents recorded a 15-11 overall record which marked the program's highest win total since 2009. Additionally, W&J posted a perfect 8-0 non-conference record under Turner's guidance in 2013.
Turner previously served as the head volleyball coach at Division II West Liberty University (2007-2011). She inherited a program that had won four matches in the two seasons prior to her arrival and helped the Hilltoppers earn back-to-back years of double-digit victories in 2010 and 2011. Turner was also an adjunct professor at West Liberty, teaching health and physical education classes.
Turner earned her bachelor’s (2004) and M.B.A. (2009) degrees from Wheeling Jesuit University. In 2015, she completed her Ph.D. in instructional management and leadership from Robert Morris University.
A native of Weirton, W.Va., Turner played four years of volleyball at Wheeling Jesuit and led the Cardinals to four WVIAC titles and three appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament. The 2003 WVIAC Tournament Most Valuable Player led Wheeling Jesuit to a 139-32 record during her years on campus.
Turner graduated from Weir High School where she led the Red Riders’ volleyball team to one Class A-AA state championship.
