Chace Johnston

Chace Johnston enters his first season at Washington & Jefferson College as Tight Ends Coach and Assistant Offensive Line Coach under Head Coach Mike Sirianni.

Johnston joins the Presidents after spending the previous two seasons at Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Saint Vincent College, where he served as Offensive Line Coach, Recruiting Coordinator, and Manager of Football Operations. During the 2025 season, he coached under former W&J assistant Casey Goff.

During his tenure with the Bearcats, Johnston made a significant impact both on the field and on the recruiting trail. He helped assemble a 62-player recruiting class for the 2026 season, personally signing 27 student-athletes from across Pennsylvania. Offensively, Saint Vincent made dramatic improvements during the 2025 campaign, increasing its scoring average from 10.0 to 24.0 points per game while nearly doubling its offensive production from 184.4 to 335.6 yards per game. The Bearcats also set multiple program offensive records and finished fourth in the PAC in passing offense and sixth in rushing offense. Johnston’s offensive line helped pave the way for sophomore running back Julian Walker to earn All-PAC honors.

Prior to Saint Vincent, Johnston spent the 2023 season at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School, where he served as Assistant Head Coach, Run Game Coordinator, and Offensive Line Coach under former W&J assistant Donald Militzer.

Before his time at OLSH, Johnston completed two coaching stints at Carmichaels Area High School (2018–19 and 2021–22), serving as Defensive Coordinator, Offensive Line/Defensive Line Coach, and Manager of Football Operations under head coaches Ryan Krull and Ronald Gallagher. Between those tenures, he spent the 2020 season at nearby Washington High School as Offensive Line/Defensive Line Coach and Manager of Football Operations under Head Coach Michael Bosnic.

A 2020 graduate of Waynesburg University, Johnston earned a bachelor's degree in Athletic Communication. He later completed a Master of Business Administration from Waynesburg in 2022 before earning a Master of Arts in Teaching from Pennsylvania Western University in 2024.

A native of southwestern Pennsylvania, Johnston is a graduate of Mapletown Junior-Senior High School, where he was a four-sport athlete. He played under longtime WPIAL head coach George Messich, a former University of Pittsburgh offensive lineman and member of Pitt's 1976 National Championship team.

Johnston currently resides in Washington, Pennsylvania.
