Shea Stanton

Shea Stanton (Indiana University of Pennsylvania '22) enters his second year as the Sports Information Director following his hire in the Fall of 2024. Stanton heads the day-to-day promotion of W&J's 28 athletics programs.

Stanton heads the operations of the W&J Sports Information Office that is responsible for the maintenance of the gopresidents.com website, the coverage of all 28 of W&J's varsity teams home and away competition, the oversight of the W&J Sports Network and social media management of all W&J Athletics pages.

Stanton was most recently named to the inaugural class of the NCAA Division III Athletic Communicators Emerging Elite Program held at the NCAA National Office in Indianapolis. Stanton was selected as one of the 30 Division III athletic communicators that were nominated in the fall of 2024 by their leaders and peers for participation in the program. Created in partnership with D3SIDA and College Sports Communicators, the program is designed to elevate the next generation of athletic communication leaders in Division III.

Stanton returned to W&J after a year stint as the Athletics Communications Specialist at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. There he assisted in the daily coverage and promotion of UWSP’s 26 NCAA Division III athletic programs.

While at UW-Stevens Point, one of Stanton’s successes was creating a new social media push called “Pointer Pause”, which centered around the behind the scenes thoughts and opinions of the UWSP student-athletes. Stanton also oversaw the introduction of the first UWSP women’s lacrosse team. Covering the day-to-day promotion of the inaugural program, Stanton led game day operations and social media efforts from the UWSP athletics outlets.

Prior to his time at UWSP, Stanton worked under previous Sports Information Director Aaron Thompson as the Intern Assistant Sports Information Director. He helped in a variety of capacities with W&J's 26 athletic programs, which included promotion of four conference championships in 2022-23.

Stanton comes to W&J after graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in May 2022. He received his degree in Physical Education and Sport with a track in Sport Management. Stanton also minored in Marketing.

During his time as an undergrad at IUP, Stanton worked under Ryan Rebholz as a Sports Communication Student Assistant. His duties included updating the athletics website, writing press releases,  game previews and input statistics for multiple sports using Statcrew and NCAA Live Stats. During the spring of 2022, Stanton served as the primary contact for the IUP baseball program.
