Terry Swanson was hired by the W&J football staff as Assistant Coach in the offseason of 2026.
Swanson returns home to Western Pennsylvania as an assistant coach for the Presidents. An Alliquippa, Pa. native, Swanson played Division I football for the Toledo Rockets. While there, Swanson was a two-time MAC Champion and earned All-MAC honors with the Rockets. Swanson initially returned to his alma mater postgraduation to become the Director of Player Development.
Professionally, Swanson spent time as an NFL undrafted acquisition with the Houston Texans in 2018. Swanson rushed for 74 yards on 21 attempts, averaging 3.52 yards per carry. The Toldeo product highlighted the preseason with a 37-yard rushing touchdown on Thursday (Aug. 30) against the Dallas Cowboys which helped secure the 14-6 victory in the Texans preseason finale.
Swanson joins the Presidents from Northern Arizona University, where he served as the Running Backs Coach. During his time with the Lumberjacks, Swanson saw three separate running backs gain over 300 yards from scrimmage during the 204 season.
