WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Presidents won the first set, but were unable to capture another as they dropped a 3-1 decision to Thiel in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
The loss drops the Washington & Jefferson volleyball team to 11-7 on the season and 5-6 in the league. Thiel moves to 9-13 overall and 6-5 in the PAC.
W&J won set one, 26-24, before dropping the next three by scores of 25-23, 25-21, 25-19.
Nicole Bishwaty led W&J with 12 kills while
Lindsey Bennett had 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
Taylor Freeman and
Alexis Hilzendeger each contributed seven kills.
Megan Stoehr registered 20 assists and
Emily Toy added 13 helpers.
Allison Means had two of W&J's four service aces.
Means was also tops with 35 digs.
Sarah Stedina (16), Bishwaty (13) and Toy (10) were all in double figures for the Presidents. Bennett finished with eight blocks (five solo), one shy of her career high of nine set on Oct. 1, 2012 at Franciscan.
W&J travels to Bethany on Thursday, Oct. 16 for a 3:30 p.m. match before returning home to Henry Memorial Gymnasium to host Chatham at 7:30 p.m. that same night.
