PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Presidents opened up a 3-0 lead in the first half en route to a 4-2 win at Chatham.
With the victory, the Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team improves to 7-5-1 on the season and 3-1-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The Cougars slip to 3-10 overall and 0-4 in the league.
Josie Madden opened the scoring in the 13th minute with her third goal of the season. ECAC Division III South Rookie of the Week
Tatiana Ruzzini added her team-leading 11th goal of the season at the 21:32-mark off an assist by
Abbey DeIuliis, 2-0.
Madden added her second goal of the game early in the 37th minute off an assist by
Leah Vaughan to push the W&J lead to 3-0.
Chatham got on the board in the 70th minute on a goal by Sarah Jugovic.
Molly Peddicord stretched the lead back to three goals with 9:20 remaining, and Jugovic's second goal of the game capped the scoring at 86:12, 4-2.
Thanks to a 14-3 first-half margin, W&J held a 20-12 advantage on shots.
Jess Skovira led the way with a game-high five shots. Madden and Peddicord each added four shots.
Morgan Kinyon made five saves in winning her seventh match of the year.
W&J travels to Grove City on Saturday, Oct. 18 for a 1 p.m. match-up with the Wolverines.
