Presidents play Yellow Jackets to 1-1 draw

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer squad played Waynesburg to a 1-1 draw in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.

With the tie, the Presidents move to 5-10-1 on the season and 1-4-1 in league play. The Yellow Jackets are now 7-6-4 overall and 3-2-1 in the PAC.

Brian Hanna put W&J on the board in the first half with a goal, his fourth of the season, at the 38:33 mark.

With 2:29 to play in regulation, Waynesburg keeper Brandon Daughtry, who had pushed up on the attack scored on a direct kick.

Neither team was able to score in the extra 20 minutes, causing the game to end in a 1-1 draw.

Thanks to a 10-3 edge in the second half and 7-3 lead in overtime, Waynesburg held a 22-13 lead on shots, while taking nine corner kicks to W&J's five, including a 7-1 margin in the second half. Hanna led W&J with five shots. Justin Nolfi added three and Connor McKenzie totaled two.

The Presidents close out the season with a pair of home PAC contests, beginning with a 7:30 p.m. meeting with Bethany on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
