Women's Soccer plays to 3-3 tie at Waynesburg


WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Presidents built a 3-1 lead at halftime, but allowed a pair of second-half goals to play to a 3-3 tie at Waynesburg.

The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team moves to 7-7-2 on the season, with a 3-3-1 mark in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. Waynesburg is 6-8-3 this year and 2-4-1 in the PAC.

Hayley Skovira gave W&J a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute on a pass off a free kick by Jess Skovira. Skovira then hit a cross on the ground to assist on Tatiana Ruzzini's 12th goal of the season at the 28:52 mark.

Waynesburg got on the board less than five minutes later off a blocked shot and Ruzzini's second goal of the game was unassisted from five yards out to the upper left corner at the 41:44 mark.

In the second half, Becky Hotek notched a pair of scores in the 65th and 77th minutes to tie the game, and neither team could find the back of the net after that.

The Yellow Jackets held an 18-9 lead on shots, including 13-5 combined after halftime. Ruzzini's three shots led W&J,with Jess Skovira and Mariah Lockard each added two shots.

Morgan Kinyon made eight saves in goal while playing all 110 minutes.

W&J hosts Bethany on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Alexandre Stadium.
