Women's Soccer pours on 38 shots in 3-0 win

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team exploded for 38 shots in a 3-0 win over Bethany in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Alexandre Stadium

The win moves the Presidents to 8-7-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the PAC, and in control of their own destiny for a conference tournament berth. W&J clinches the fourth and final seed with a win or tie against Thiel (6-13, 4-4) at Alexandre Stadium on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Tatiana Ruzzini helped put the game away early with a pair of unassisted goals in the 15th and 36th minutes. On the first score, she cut across the box and finished with her left foot to the lower right corner. The second occurred after she went to cross the ball and it deflected back to her and she went to the lower near corner. The tallies were her 14th and 15th of the year, leaving her four shy of the program freshman record set by W&J Hall of Famer Nicole Bosley Bednarski in 1997.

Mariah Lockard added an insurance goal at the 72:26-mark through the box after a one-touch pass from Molly Peddicord.

Behind a 23-2 margin in the second half, W&J out-shot Bethany, 38-7, for the game. Hayley Skovira led all players with seven shots, while Ruzzini added six and Lockard and Peddicord each tallied five.

Morgan Kinyon made four saves, all in the first half, in winning her eighth match of the year.
