Lauren Brown scored twice in the opening 20 minutes and Washington & Jefferson swept the season series from Bethany after a 5-0 victory on Wednesday night at Cameron Stadium.Â
The Presidents (10-7) extended their win streak versus the Bison to six. W&J has now won at least 10 games in five consecutive seasons. The victory also helped Head Coach
Jomara Coghlan inch closer to her 100th career victory (98-51 in eight seasons).Â
Victoria Forkus slid a pass across to Brown for the opening goal at the 12:49 mark. Brown struck again seven minutes later to tie
Amanda Steffey for the team lead with 11 goals.Â
Gina Taglieri and
Catherine Beaudoin assisted on the goal.Â
Taglieri notched her second assist early in the second half on a
Caroline Kallos goal, while Steffey reclaimed the team lead in goals with her 12th just 29 seconds later. However, Brown netted her third goal of the match to tie Steffey for the team-high goal total once again.
Beaudoin's pair of assists gave her 79 career points (30g, 19a) which leaves her only five behind Erin Barno for third place in school history. The 19 assists are tied for fourth place in the school record book.Â
Morgan Brozena earned the win in goal after making three saves in each half. W&J outshot Bethany 18-6.Â
