LATROBE, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team evened its Presidents' Athletic Conference mark at 1-1 with a 3-1 win at Saint Vincent.
The victory moves the Presidents to 5-5-1 on the season after winning their seventh-straight meeting with the Bearcats. SVC fa;;s to 1-10 overall and 1-1 in the league.
Mariah Lockard scored the only goal of the first half when she finished to the top right corner off a rebound late in the 19th minute.
Tatiana Ruzzini recorded her third multi-goal game in 11 career outings with a pair of second-half scores. Her first goal went past the SVC keeper to the right at the 53:14 mark and was assisted by Lockard. 14:28 later she added her team-leading ninth goal of the season off an assist by
Hayley Skovira.
SVC found the back of the net in the 71st minute, but was unable to put up a rally as the Presidents posted the 3-1 victory.
For the game, W&J led 19-9 in shots, with Skovira tallying a game-high six shots. Ruzzini collected four shots and Lockard added three.
Morgan Kinyon made five saves in her fifth win of the season for W&J, while SVC's Meghan Lyden posted eight stops.
W&J returns home on Saturday, Oct. 11 with a 1 p.m. match with Geneva at Alexandre Stadium.
