HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The Washington & Jefferson field hockey team closed the 2014 regular season with a 1-0 loss at Houghton in Empire 8 action.
With the loss, the Presidents move to 10-8 on the season and 5-3 in the league. Houghton improves to 5-13 and 1-7 in E8 action. W&J has clinched the third seed in the upcoming Empire 8 tournament and will play St. John Fisher at Utica on Saturday, Nov. 8.
The lone goal of the game came at the 49:12 mark when Houghton's Kelsie Ashley scored on a hard shot from the top of the circle.
W&J led in shots, 7-5, with
Caroline Kallos and
Gina Taglieri recorded a pair apiece.
Morgan Brozena made one save in the loss.
