Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Burk drops in 20, but Muskies prevail in OT 74-68

WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania -- Muskingum rallied back from a 12-point, second-half deficit and edged Washington & Jefferson 74-68 Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's basketball action at the Henry Memorial Center.

Nick Burk had the best game of his young career in a W&J uniform as he made all eight of his field goal attempts and also went 4-for-4 at the free throw line.  He finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds and two assists.

The Muskies (2-3) were in a hole nearly the entire game after falling behind 9-0 in the first three minutes.  Muskingum was held to just two points for the first 9:30, but Jacob Geller's three-pointer shortly before the first-half horn cut the Muskies' deficit to 29-22.

Doug Johnson started the second half hot from beyond the arc as his triple at the 15:54 mark gave W&J a 37-25 advantage.  However, the Presidents got into foul trouble (Tyler Haas, Mitch Locher and Johnson all fouled out) and the Muskies chipped away, finally claiming their first lead (55-54) after a pair of Rickey Wilson free throws with 4:42 remaining.  The game was tied 59-59 after regulation as both teams were held without a field goal for the final 2:21.

Muskingum never trailed in the extra session and Logan Kimble hit the key shot with a three-pointer at the 2:38 mark to break a 63-63 tie.  Mike Resnik's three-point play with 26 seconds left brought W&J to within 71-68, but that was as close as the Presidents would get.  Resnik led all scorers with 21 points and grabbed seven boards.

Joshua Keyes led four Muskies in double figures with 14 points.  MU made six of their eight three-pointers in the final 25 minutes.
