PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- A total of 15 players scored in a 70-48 Presidents' Athletic Conference win at Chatham for the Washington & Jefferson women's basketball team.
With the win, the Presidents improve to 5-1 on the season and remain undefeated in league play at 2-0. The Cougars drop to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the PAC.
W&J scored the first seven points of the game to open up a 7-0 lead.
Taylor Cortazzo and
Beka Bellhy each recorded layups before
Danni Medovich hit a three-pointer, giving her at least one triple in all six games this season and of her short W&J career thus far.
An 8-0 later pushed the lead to 17-5 thanks to a pair of layups by Bellhy and a layup from each of Dunlap and
Erin Lavery.
A 12-2 run by the Presidents stretched the lead to 36-14 later in the first half with two Bellhy layups helping the run as well as a layup by Jamie Tedesco and three-pointer by
Laura Primyon.
W&J held a 47-21 lead at halftime before coasting through the second half for the 70-48 victory.
Bellhy tied for the game high with 13 points and nine rebounds, despite playing just 19 minutes. Dunlap posted 10 points and eight boards to go with three blocks in 20 minutes.
The Presidents held a dominating 55-35 advantage on rebounds and shot 44.4 percent (28-of-63) from the field while holding the Cougars to just 23.1 percent (15-of-65), including just 6-of-33 (18.2 percent) in the first half.
W&J will be off for finals week until Sunday, Dec. 14 when it hosts Thiel at 3 p.m. at the Henry Memorial Center.
