WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Presidents earned their fifth non-conference win of the season with a 3-0 sweep of Franciscan at Henry Memorial Gym on Monday night.
W&J used the match against the Barons (4-11) as a fundraiser to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, raising funds for their Light The Night walk at Heinz Field on Oct. 9.With the win, the Washington & Jefferson volleyball team improves to 6-4 on the season and 2-2 at home. The Presidents earned a 25-14 win in set one before battling back for a 28-26 victory in the second game. The third game was controlled by W&J to the tune of 25-17.
Taylor Freeman connected with a match-high 13 kills and
Nicole Bishwaty added 12 kills.
Megan Stoehr posted 31 assists to charge the offense, while
Sarah Stedina registered two of W&J's four service aces.
For the defense,
Allison Means led with 13 digs, with Bishwaty and
Lindsey Bennett added nine and eight, respectively.
The Presidents have a quick turnaround and travel to Thiel for a Presidents' Athletic Conference match-up tomorrow night, Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.
