Second-straight shutout gives W&J 2-0 win

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Morgan Kinyon and the Presidents' defense ran their scoreless streak to over 200 minutes with a 2-0 shutout of Franciscan at Alexandre Stadium.

The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team improves to 3-4 on the year with its second-straight shutout after blanking Penn State Behrend on Saturday. Franciscan falls to 5-3-1 to this point of the season.

Kinyon hasn't allowed a goal in 204:03, dating back to a score by Wooster at the 65:57 mark of Sept. 17th's contest. She improved to 3-4 on the season after making four saves in 90 minutes.

Tatiana Ruzzini continued her strong freshman campaign with her fifth goal of the year after taking a through ball from Hayley Skovira and splitting two Barons' defenders to finish in the lower right corner.

Josie Madden added an insurance goal late in the second half in the 84th minute for her first career score, sneaking one inside the post off a pass from Ruzzini.

Franciscan led in shots, 12-10, behind a 9-6 advantage in the second half. Skovira and Tori Bowler led W&J with two shots each.

The Presidents host Marietta on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. before concluding non-conference play at Penn State-Altoona on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
