W&J rallies for 3-1 win at La Roche

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- After dropping the first set, the Presidents won the next three to post a 3-1 win at La Roche in non-conference action.

With the win, the Washington & Jefferson volleyball team improves to 8-4 on the season after winning its sixth non-Presidents' Athletic Conference match of the year.

The hosts took the first set, 25-20, but W&J rallied for three victories to close out the win, 25-23, 26-24 and 25-18.

Taylor Freeman had a season-high 15 kills to pace the Presidents. Nicole Bishwaty finished in double digits as well at 11 kills and a .450 hitting percentage. Megan Stoehr and Emily Toy contributed 20 and 14 assists, respectively. Allison Means and Lindsey Bennett each had a pair of service aces in the win.

Means and Bishwaty each had the team-lead with 10 digs. Bennett led the way with five blocks and Darby McMullen posted three blocks.

W&J returns to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 30 with a 7 p.m. home meeting with PAC foe Waynesburg. The Presidents captured a non-conference meeting between the two teams at the La Roche tournament 3-0 earlier this year.
