WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson volleyball team evened its record in the Presidents' Athletic Conference at 3-3 with a 3-0 victory over Waynesburg at Henry Memorial Gymnasium.
The win moves the Presidents to .500 in the league and 9-4 overall this season, while building the current winning streak to four matches. The Yellow Jackets drop to 5-16 overall and 1-6 in the PAC.
W&J posted a 25-15 win in the first set before posting identical 25-16 scores in the second and third sets for the sweep.
Taylor Freeman posted a game-high 13 kills, just nine less than Waynesburg had as a team.
Nicole Bishwaty and
Brooke Lininger added eight and six kills, respectively.
Megan Stoehr (22) and
Emily Toy (12) combined for 34 of W&J's 39 assists and
Lindsey Bennett collected two of the three aces.
Defensively,
Allison Means notched a game-high 16 digs with Bishwaty and Stoehr each in double figures at 10 digs.
Darby McMullen led the way with five blocks (two solo), while Bishwaty added three and Bennett and Freeman each recorded two blocks.
W&J travels to Chatham on Thursday, Oct. 2 for a 7 p.m. PAC match-up with the Cougars.
