ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Washington & Jefferson men's water polo team opened the 2014 campaign with a 1-2 showing at the Navy Invitational, scoring a 17-13 win over Caltech before dropping decisions to Fordham (6-4) and Navy (23-2).
Kevin Dunigan helped the Presidents to the win against the Beavers, scoring three goals.
Carl Krause,
Mike Magdic,
Ben Mancini and
Nick Willison each posted a pair of goals and six different W&J swimmers added one goal.
Chris DeNunzio and
Mac Hennessy each recorded two saves as the Presidents began the year with a win for the first time since 2009.
In the loss to Division I Fordham, Magdic led the team with a pair of goals and
Mitch Fountain and
Ben McGrath each got on the score sheet. DeNunzio made five stops in the match.
Against the host Naval Academy, Magdic and
Kevin Dunigan recorded the goals for W&J.
The Presidents are back in action next weekend, Sept. 13-14 at the Bucknell Invitational.
