Bellhy nets 18 points in 66-44 W&J win at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Beka Bellhy scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Presidents to a 66-44 win at Thiel in league action.

With the win, the Washington & Jefferson women's basketball team improves to 14-4 on the season and 8-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. Thiel drops to 4-14 overall as the Tomcats possess a 3-8 mark in the conference.

Of her game-high 18 points, Bellhy scored 12 in the second half thanks to 5-of-8 shooting. Her six points in the first half were one shy of Taylor Cortazzo's game-high seven at the break as the Presidents held a 27-21 lead through 20 minutes.

W&J used a strong second-half effort to wear down the Tomcats eventually out-scoring the hosts by a 39-23 count to earn the 66-44 win.

Cortazzo was the only other President in double figures, finishing with 11 points. She also recorded four steals and three assists. Valerie Dunlap posted a game-high best 12 rebounds in the win.

The Presidents held Thiel's Jaclyn Watkins, the PAC's second-leading scorer to just 11 points, more than seven points under her season average.

W&J hosts Chatham on Saturday at 2 p.m. in a PAC contest at the Henry Memorial Center.
