WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson volleyball team secured its fourth 3-0 win of the season as the Presidents swept Waynesburg at the Henry Memorial Gymnasium.
With the victory, W&J improves to 11-8 on the season and 6-5 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while Waynesburg drops to 3-21 overall and 3-10 in league action.
W&J posted an early 25-18 victory to open play before a strong 25-9 win in the second set. A 25-20 win in the third set gave the Presidents three sets and the conference win.
Madison Lydic was one kill off her career high of 14 set in W&J's last game against La Roche as the freshman boasted a game-high 13 kills thanks to a .407 hitting percentage.Â
Nicole Bishwaty finished second on the team with eight kills and handed out 18 assists, and
Abigail Eich contributed seven kills with a .294 hitting percentage.
Emily Toy dished out a team-best 20 helpers in the match as part of her fourth career and second-straight double-double, adding 14 digs.
Bishwaty and
Sarah Dindak each had two service of W&J's five service aces in the victory.
Defensively,
Allison Means recorded 23 digs and Dindak added 15, while Lydic posted a game- and season-high six blocks (two solo). Eich and Bishwaty each turned in five blocks on the day.
The Presidents will head to Beaver Falls, Pa., on Thursday, Oct. 15 for a PAC tri-match against Chatham (6 p.m.) and host Geneva (8 p.m.).
