BETHANY, W.Va. – Washington & Jefferson outshot Bethany 28-10 en route to a 5-1 victory in a Presidents' Athletic Conference women's soccer match up at Hoag Field.
Mariah Lockard was assisted by
Aundrea Snyder 5:15 into the game, getting the Presidents on the board with the first goal.
Ashton Grimm then helped
Jordan Toohey notch her 23rd goal of the season to extend the W&J lead at 19:05. Toohey needed just 55 seconds to add her second goal of the match, and 24th this year, and push the lead to 3-0.
To open the second period, Grimm scored in the 51st minute thanks to an assist by Toohey. Bethany was able to sneak one past
Maddie Potter in net at 77:08, recording only the ninth goal of the season against the Presidents.
A few minutes later, W&J answered back with Grimm's second goal of the game, this time assisted by
Molly Peddicord.
The win moves W&J's record to 11-1-1 overall and 5-0-0 in the PAC.
Allison Rinehimer earned the victory to improve to 8-1-1 after recording two saves in the first half before giving way to Potter who played the final 45 minutes.
The Presidents will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 20 with a PAC contest in Greenville, Pa., against Thiel at 7 p.m.
