Men's Soccer Senior Day brings 1-0 victory

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team earned a 1-0 shutout at home for its 2015 Senior Day. Six seniors were honored for their dedication to the men's soccer team over the course of their careers at W&J.

During the first half W&J outshot Saint Vincent 15-4, allowing only two of the Bearcats' shots to land on target.

The effort paid off when, at 35:53, Scott Hanna scored his fifth goal of the season, following a forward pass from Garrett French to put the Presidents on the board.

Offensively, W&J continued to lead in shots during the second half, 17-3, but none were able to find the back of the net. Defensively, the Presidents' did not allow a single shot on goal during the final 45:00.

Benny Wilt made two saves, improving his record on the season to 9-5-2.

With today's victory, the Presidents improve to an overall record of 9-5-2 and to a Presidents' Athletic Conference record of 4-2-0.

The Presidents will face off against Westminster for their final regular season home game on Oct. 27 at 5:30 pm for Red Card Cancer Night.
