WASHINGTON, PA. – Although Washington & Jefferson led in shots 9-8, it was Westminster who was able to find the back of the net, forcing the Presidents to take a 1-0 loss in their final regular season conference home game of the season.
The first half was kept scoreless, with W&J's defense only allowing one shot on goal and
Benny Wilt there to make the save.
It wasn't until late into the second half at 74:26, that the Titans were able to chip one past Wilt into the lower left-hand corner of the net. The Presidents were unable to rally, ending the match with a score of 1-0.
Offensively,
Justin Carter led the attack with three shots, while
Alex Blout and Paul Mokrzen each contributed with two of their own.
With the loss, W&J moves to 9-6-2 on the season and 4-3-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while Westminster's record increases to 9-5-3 overall and 4-2-1 in the PAC.
The Presidents will continue fighting for their spot in PAC post-season play when they travel to Thomas More for their final regular season game on Nov. 1 at 1:30 pm.
