How it Happened: Washington & Jefferson claimed third place at the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championship, hosted by Connecticut College in New London, Conn. The Presidents opened the event with a 10-8 win over Penn State Behrend before dropping an 11-9 decision against Massachusetts Institute of Technology to wrap up the first day. In the third-place game on Sunday, W&J scored an 11-9 win over the host Camels.
Top Performers: Patrick Fredrick led the Presidents in two of the three games, and for the tournament, with 10 goals overall after scoring three against both Penn State Behrend and MIT and four against Connecticut College.
Nicholas Willison was second on the team with nine total scores, led by four versus MIT and also three against CC and two against PSB.
Mac Hennessy made 28 total saves, nine against both PSB and CC and 10 in the MIT game. Willison was a First-Team All-Tournament selection, while Fredrick represented W&J on the Second Team.
The Rest: Benjamin McGrath scored in all three games, with four total and two against CC.
Joshua Emde found the back of the net three times, including two against the host Camels and once versus MIT. Both of
Tyler Willison's two scores came in the opening-game against Behrend.
Collin Higgins wrapped up the scoring with a goal in the PSB match.
What's Next: The Presidents will be back in the pool for the CWPA Southern Division Championship Nov. 6-8 at Bucknell.
