WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Presidents faced a deficit in all three sets, but were able to rebound and score the 3-0 sweep against Saint Vincent in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
Washington & Jefferson punched its ticket for a return berth to the PAC tournament with the victory that improved the team to 14-10 on the year and 9-7 in the league.Â
W&J won the first and third sets, 25-23, and the second set 26-24. In the final set, the Presidents trailed, 23-18, before rattling off seven-straight points to clinch the victory.
Nicole Bishwaty led the attack with a match-high 14 kills, while
Madison Lydic chipped in eight on a match-best .400 hitting percentage.
Emily Toy handed out 19 assists and Bishwaty added 17 for her team-leading 12th double-double of the year.
Katheryn Rotthoff led all players with a career-high five service aces.
Allison Means, who entered the match ranked 12th in NCAA Division III with 5.84 digs per set, led the evening with a season-high 30 digs, with
Sarah Dindak (13) and Rotthoff (10) also in double digits.
Abigail Eich recorded seven blocks (three solo),
Madison Lydic posted five (four solo) and
Taylor Freeman added three blocks.
W&J returns to action on Friday, Oct. 30 when it hosts Grove City for the final regular season match of the season. Bishwaty will be honored before the match as the lone senior on the team.
