GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City clinched the fourth seed in the upcoming Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament with a 3-1 win over Washington & Jefferson.
Set scores were 25-23, 25-18, 24-26, 25-17.
The Presidents will now travel to Westminster, tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 31, to play Westminster in a match-up to determine the fifth and sixth seeds in next week's league tournament. W&J earns the fifth seed with a win or 3-2 loss. A 3-0 or 3-1 win for the Titans would give them the fifth seed and force W&J to the sixth position. Six teams make the PAC tournament, with the top two receiving a bye to the semifinals.
The Grove City match was the last at the Henry Memorial Gymnasium for senior
Nicole Bishwaty who turned in her 13th double-double of the season with 14 kills and 19 assists. She also recorded four service aces to give her 126 in her career, moving the senior into a tie for second place in the rally scoring era at W&J with Andrea Motta (1999-2002).
Emily Toy also handed out 19 assists, while
Abigail Eich recorded three service aces.
Allison Means inched closer to the top five in the rally scoring era at W&J for digs with 23, giving her 1,159 for her career, 20 digs out of fifth place. Jamie Gullen (2003-06) currently sits in fifth place with 1,179.
Sarah Dindak and
Katheryn Rotthoff chipped in 17 and 12 digs, respectively. Eich led all players with six blocks, while
Madison Lydic added four.
