Men's Water Polo

W&J splits Southern Championship 2-2, ending with 14-9 loss

Opponent: CWPA Southern Division Championship – Bucknell
Result: L, 18-9
 
How it Happened: Washington & Jefferson fell 18-9 to 15th-ranked Bucknell in the first round of the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division Championship.
 
Top Performers: Patrick Fredrick and Joshua Emde each recorded hat tricks, with Mac Hennessy in net with seven blocks.
 
The Rest: Nicholas Willison, Benjamin McGrath and Brent Trewhella each contributed by posting a goal.
 
What's Next: The Presidents will continue in the Southern Division Championship by taking on Penn State-Behrend on Nov. 7, at 12:45 pm.

How it Happened: In the second match of the CWPA Southern Division Championship, Washington & Jefferson topped Penn State Behrend, 15-4.
 
Top Performers: Troy Smith led the attack with a hat trick. Nicholas Willison, Patrick Fredrick, Tyler Willison, Benjamin McGrath and Hayden Young all tallied a pair of goals. Defensively, Mac Hennessy had seven saves.
 
The Rest: Collin Higgins and Brent Trewhella each found the back of the net once, with Zach Bacchus and Ryan Kierstan each making a block.
 
What's Next: The Presidents will continue in the Southern Division Championship as they take on Mercyhurst on Nov. 7 at 8:40 pm.

Opponent: CWPA Southern Division Championship – Mercyhurst
Result: W, 7-6

How it Happened: Washington & Jefferson continued in the championship tournament by taking on Mercyhurst in a close scoring game, winning 7-6. The game winning goal game with two seconds left and was scored by Patrick Fredrick for his second of the game and sixth in the tournament so far.
 
Top Performers: Nicholas Willison and Fredrick each notched a pair of goals, while Mac Hennessy was in goal with seven saves.
 
The Rest: Tyler Willison, Collin Higgins and Joshua Emde each added to the win with a point.
 
What's Next: W&J will play a final match tomorrow, Nov. 8, to close out the Southern Division Championship.

Result: L, 14-9
 
How it Happened: Washington & Jefferson finished up the Southern Division Championship with a 14-9 loss to George Washington, giving the Presidents a 2-2 split in the tournament and an 11-11 current overall record.
 
Top Performers: Nicholas Willison and Patrick Fredrick continued to be fundamental on W&J's offense, posting four goals each. Mac Hennessy once again was crucial on defense with nine blocks.
 
The Rest: Brent Trewhella recorded a point as well.
 
What's Next: Washington & Jefferson's men's water polo team will travel to Cambridge, Mass. From Nov. 20-22 to compete in the CWPA Championship.
