The Washington & Jefferson women's basketball team knocked off Marietta in a back and forth 74-64 victory.Â
After jumping to a three-point lead in the first quarter, led by
Amirah Moore's seven first period points, the Presidents struggled to stay ahead of the Pioneers. However, Marietta managed to come back in the second quarter and the teams went in at the half tied at 37. Moore and
Beka Bellhy led the Presidents in the first half with 11 points each, while
Taylor Cortazzo followed shortly behind with eight points of her own.
The second half showed a surge in Presidents' scoring, allowing them to gain the lead and keep it to give them their eight point victory. Cortazzo exploded with 13 second half points to give her a game high total of 21 points, including five three point shots. Moore was right behind her with 20 points, and Bellhy finished with 19 points and nine rebounds, tying a game high.
W&J next travels to Waynesburg on January 2nd
 for a PAC contest. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:30 P.M.
