W&J falls in PAC Semifinal against Saint Vincent, 71-55

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The third-seeded Washington & Jefferson women's basketball team was eliminated from the 2015 Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament after a 71-55 loss to second-seeded Saint Vincent.

W&J will now await its fate for a potential ECAC Division III South Tournament bid following a 20-7 campaign. After winning the rubber match between the two teams, Saint Vincent moves to 22-4 on the season and will face the winner of the second semifinal between No. 5 Grove City and No. 1 Thomas More.

The Presidents started slowly in the contest, falling behind by a 22-7 count through the first 12 minutes before embarking on a 12-0 run that spanned approximately 4:30, cutting the deficit to 22-19 with 4:28 to play in the first half. Amirah Moore recorded two traditional three-point plays during the run that also included a put-back layup by Katey Wilson and jumpers by Valerie Dunlap and Alexa DelGreco.

Saint Vincent scored eight of the final 12 points of the half to hold a 30-23 lead at intermission.

After the Bearcats built their lead into double figures in the second half, W&J got within five points, 51-46, with 8:12 remaining in the game after a pair of layups by Wilson, including a three-point play to cap the rally.

SVC put the game away with the next eight points, 12 of the next 15 and a 20-9 run to close the game over the final 7:35.

Dunlap led W&J in recording her 12th double-double of the season, tallying 13 points and a game-best 11 rebounds. Moore added 11 points and six boards. Wilson and Beka Bellhy each contributed seven points.
