WASHINGTON, Pa. --
Bryan Whipkey scored a career-high seven goals and added two assists for a nine-point afternoon during Washington & Jefferson's 18-4 men's lacrosse victory over Franciscan on Wednesday afternoon at Alexandre Stadium. Â
The Presidents improved to 7-1 overall, marking the first time the program has reached seven total wins since the 2010 season. Â W&J is also just one victory shy of tying the school single-season win record of eight set during the 2009 season (8-5). Â The first W&J NCAA Division III varsity season was in 2002.Â
W&J wasted little time in building a big lead as
Tim Angell scored all four of the Presidents' first quarter goals. Â He tacked on another two minuites into the second half for a 6-0 advantage and the Presidents cruised to a 10-1 halftime advantage. Â
From the 1:52 mark of the second quarter until the 13:59 mark of the fourth period, Whipkey scored six consecutive goals for the Presidents. Â His final goal with 3:38 remaining capped the Presidents' scoring.
Angell finished with goals, while also in the scoring column for W&J were:

Kyle MacKenzie also dished out a career-high four assists. Â
Nate Rattner played a majority of the match in goal for the Presidents and produced eight saves. Â
Nathan Sachs made one stop in closing out the win. Â
W&J outshot the Barons (0-5) by a 39-16 count and held a 44-27 edge in ground balls. Â
