Three Presidents net hat tricks in 11-5 win over Mount St. Joseph

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Three different players scored a hat trick, led by Diana Harvey's career-high seven points, as the Presidents rolled to an 11-5 win over Mount St. Joseph.

With the win, the Washington & Jefferson women's lacrosse program moves to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in Ohio River Women's Lacrosse Conference games. Mount St. Joe's drops to 3-5 on the year and 2-2 in the league.

The Presidents held a 5-0 lead at halftime, thanks to a pair of goals by Ashley Bulger and scores by Harvey, Alex Dikos and Caroline Kallos.

Bulger opened the scoring of the second half exactly one minute into the period to record her fourth hat trick of the season. After a Lions goal, Harvey extended the lead to 7-1 with 24:52 to play.

MSJ recorded four of the next five goals to get within 8-5, but two goals by Dikos and Harvey's fourth goal of the game over the final 4:04 sent W&J to the 11-5 victory.

Harvey scored four times and assisted on three others to lead all players with seven points. Bulger collected five points to move her team-leading point total to 29 on the season. Dikos also added a hat trick with three goals, while Kallos finished with three points, including two assists.

W&J led, 26-19, in shots, and corralled 13 of the 18 draw controls on the day, with Harvey and Kallos each securing five. Harvey led all players with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Kelsey Roetenberg earned her fourth win of the year in making 13 saves, tying her second-highest total of the season.

The Presidents play a pair of ORWLC contests at home next week, beginning with a 6 p.m. match against Waynesburg on Wednesday, April 1.
