BEREA, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson men's lacrosse team dropped its first contest of 2015 with a 9-3 non-conference loss at Baldwin Wallace.
With the loss, the Presidents slip to 4-1 on the season with their program record four-game winning streak to open the season snapped. The Yellow Jackets, who were victorious in their season-opener, improve to 1-0.
W&J opened the scoring 2:34 into the game when
Zachary Fredericks gave the guests a 1-0 lead. It would be the only goal recorded in the first quarter.
Baldwin Wallace answered with the next four scores, including three in the second quarter. After an early goal in the third made it 4-1, the Presidents rallied with two scores to pull within one, 4-3.
Kyle Heinig and
Tim Angell found the back of the net four minutes apart at 12:45 and 8:45.
That would be the last offense in the game for W&J as BW closed out the contest with the final five goals.
The Presidents completed 19-of-23 clear attempts in the contest and Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week
Jacob Succop recorded 17 saves in the loss.
W&J hosts Mount Union at Alexandre Stadium on Wednesday, March 11, with the face-off of the home opener slated for 7:00 p.m.
