W&J posts split at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Presidents rallied for a 7-2 victory in the second game after a 6-3 loss to force a Presidents' Athletic Conference twinbill split at Geneva.

Washington & Jefferson's softball team moves to 9-7 on the season and 2-2 in the PAC after splitting both doubleheaders to open league play.

Geneva built a 6-0 lead in the first game before the Presidents rallied for a run in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Four Presidents recorded hits in the loss. Krista McCartney took the loss in the circle.

W&J used three home runs and 10 hits in game two to earn the victory. Abby Cunningham, Emily Watson and Jen Bahm each belted homers, with Bahm going 3-for-4 and Watson driving in four runs.

Watson also earned the win, going the distance and giving up six hits and two runs.

The red and black has a quick turnaround, hosting Saint Vincent in PAC action at noon on Thursday, April 2, in a DH originally slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
