WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Sophomore
Rachel Marx hit a two-out, two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh to give the Presidents a 3-1 victory in game one of a doubleheader split with Saint Vincent.
Washington & Jefferson dropped the second game by a 6-0 count to move to 10-8 overall and 3-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
The first game took three hours and three minutes thanks to 1:39 of rain delays. A

Emily Watson to give W&J a 1-0 in the second inning.
The Bearcats got on the board in the top of the seventh when Kelsey Lineberger homer to left field on the third pitch she saw after having her at-bat stopped with a 2-0 count due to lightning.
In the bottom of the frame,
Chalese Wilson led off with a single to right-center but was put out at second on a fielder's choice put into play by
Breanna Gleason. Gleason went to second on a ground out by
Abby Cunningham, setting the plate for Marx to drive a 1-0 pitch over the left-center fence and give W&J the 3-1 victory.
Watson picked up the win in relief, working the final 0.2 inning and striking out one while allowing one hit.
Marx finished with two of W&J's five hits in the win.
Watson started and took the loss in the second game, giving up four earned runs in 2.1 innings of work.
Krista McCartney surrendered five hits and two runs in 3.0 innings of relief and
Bethany Shepherd allowed a hit with a walk and strike out over the final 1.2.
Watson was 2-for-3 at the plate to record the only multi-hit game for W&J.
Three Bearcats had multiple hits in the nightcap as the visitors belted two homers and two doubles.
The Presidents host Chatham at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8 in PAC play.
