WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Catholic scored five times in the first 12 minutes and held on to defeat Washington & Jefferson 11-8 Thursday in Landmark Conference men's lacrosse action at Alexandre Stadium.Â
The Cardinals (7-4, 2-2) received three-goal efforts from Liam Clancy and Tim Keith. Keith added a pair of assists, while Brian Keith also handed out a pair of helpers.
Kyle Heinig paced the Presidents with a game-high four goals. He also added one assist.Â
Zachary Fredericks notched a pair of goals, while
Tim Angell and
Luke Georgi rounded out the W&J goal scorers.Â
Jacob Succop turned back 17 shots in goal, while
Ryan Quan produced 13 faceoff wins in 22 chances.Â
Five different Cardinals scored during the opening five-goal outburst, but W&J got back into the game with four unanswered goals, including a pair by Heinig to only trail 5-4 at halftime.Â
Catholic scored three of the four third-period goals, but W&J once again responded and Heinig's tally with 8:25 left made it a 9-7 game. Tim Keith then sent the Cardinals home a winner with back-to-back goals four minutes apart. Harrison Holak finished with 10 saves for CUA.Â
